Diploma in Automobile Engineering is a 3 years long Diploma certificate program. After passing 10th standard, students are eligible to pursue this course.Automobile industry focuses on designing, manufacturing, developing, inspecting and testing motor vehicles and parts. We use motor vehicles extensively in our day to day lives for transportation of people and goods.
An automobile engineer is a person who has been trained to take on various jobs in automobile industry, such as- designing, developing, inspecting, manufacturing and testing motor vehicles and their parts. They are also capable of carrying out diagnostic work (problem finding) and carrying out repair works if necessary!
An automobile engineer is also known by the names of vehicle engineer and automotive engineer.
Diploma Automobile Engineering is a 3 years long program. It follows the semester system of learning. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of 6 months.
Diploma in Automobile Engineering course trains students in areas such as- automobile design, vehicle engineering, electrical and electronic systems used in vehicles, braking, material science, engines, fuels and lubricants etc.

Candidates must pass Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a Council / Board recognized by the State Government / Central Government concerned, with Individual pass marks in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with (Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application) having minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together (40% for Reserve Category candidates) as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks (for all categories of candidates) in the said qualifying examination.
Diploma holders with good grade may make use of lateral entry and join B.E./B.Tech. Civil Engineering program’s 2nd academic year (directly). This way, Diploma holders may make the ‘DtoD’ switch and earn a Bachelor of Engineering/Technology Degree!
Admission is through counselling based on the rank obtained in Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test (JELET)
